“Brittany Amano was only 8 years old when she came home to a sign on her door that read ‘evicted’. She and her mom were displaced to a friend’s basement, but she watched as her grandma was forced to resort to a homeless shelter. Much of the time, they were all hungry.”
Now, 17 year-old Brittany works hard to ensure that not only the state of Hawaii gets fed, but the rest of the country as well. When Brittany was just 12 years old she started a non-profit organization called The Future Isn’t Hungry.
The Jefferson Awards are now helping Brittany fulfill her dreams of her project helping the nation. The Future Isn’t Hungry is projected to help 625,000 by December 2015.
