The Secret to Success
I’m a church-goer and during yesterday’s sermon, our pastor discussed how essential it is to know who you are. If you know who you are, it really doesn’t matter what someone may think or say about you or if you make a mistake and encounter failure. Those things are still hard but they won’t shake you to your core if you know your true worth and identity.
I was so encouraged by the message that I thought it would be helpful to expound on it today as an encouragement to jumpstart the week after a holiday weekend. It is absolutely essential to know yourself, your true worth and where your identity lies (hint: not in things, people or any form of success).
Only once we understand the truth of who we are will we enter into true success, fulfillment and joy.
I want to take this idea a step further and look at some lies and compare them to reality. First, let’s look at who YOU ARE NOT:
You are not …
- A failure.
- Always messing up.
- What someone else said about you.
- Who he / she thinks you are.
- Your reflection in the mirror.
- The dollars in your bank account.
- Your successes.
Now that we have those junk thoughts and false realities out of the way, let’s look at who you REALLY ARE:
You are …
- A beautiful creation.
- Worthwhile beyond measure.
- Full of potential.
- Empowered to choose your career, friends, goals and life path.
- Strong and resourceful.
- Valuable regardless of anything you have or have not done.
- Worthwhile no matter what anyone has said or done to you.
- Equipped with exactly what you need for today.
- Able to transform your future by taking steps toward your goals today.
- Capable of greater things than you could ask, think or imagine.
- Enough.
To move forward into success we have to move beyond fear of failure and regret from decisions past. Today, we each have the choice to press forward into the potential that this day holds and choose to be present. We must choose to see our true value and cast aside the thoughts, feelings and circumstances that are not representative of who we really are.
This recognition and self-awareness provides us the only opportunity to unlock the secret to success in whatever you do: know who you are, act on this and success will follow.
People who know who they really are get promoted faster, have better friends, healthy relationships and greater life fulfillment. So, what are you waiting for? Drop the false perspectives and take on the truth of who you really are. Fulfillment, love, joy and success are waiting for you to enter the light of reality.
