With the time and money that businesses are now spending on social media, it’s important for us to stay up-to-date on changes taking place within the field for our clients. We’re constantly searching for updates that can make a difference in marketing and content strategy. Read our list below and see if you’re caught up on these social media changes.

5 Social Media Updates

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are all in the headlines, with updates in advertising, video content and new features.

1. Twitter Plugin for WordPress

Twitter now has an official WordPress plugin. With their new optimization, Twitter offers  website sharing and follow buttons. Your Twitter feed, including videos, can also be embedded into WordPress, keeping visitors aware of your social activity.

If you’d like to check your Twitter account’s success, impressions, ad conversions and additional analytics, can be easily viewed within the plugin.

2. Embed Videos on Twitter

It’s well known that photo and video content encourage more interaction online. The new Twitter widget allows users to embed Twitter-hosted videos to their website. For step-by-step instructions, see the official Twitter link here.

3. Facebook Featured Videos

Still the largest social media site, video content is a top priority to Facebook. Always encouraging users to view and share videos, the platform recently allowed pages to upload a featured video, which is displayed on the Video tab. This is a great idea for all business owners looking to increase content engagement. To learn about more Facebook updates check out this link.

4. Good News For Marketers On-The-Go

Are you always looking for a more convenient way to get your work done? Facebook has recently introduced an Ads Manager app, which is an upgrade from last year’s mobile site.

The app allows users to create and edit ads (including budgets and schedules), track performance and receive push notifications about the progress of the ad.

5. Instagram Carousel Ads

The next generation of Instagram advertisements are here. Based on feedback from businesses and everyday users, Carousel Ads have been introduced to the platform.

According to the official Instagram blog, “Carousel ads give brands more flexibility in telling their stories by allowing people who view their ads to swipe left to see additional images”. Businesses can also provide a link to a website within their “carousel” of images.

Staying on Top of Social Media Updates

It is a difficult, but necessary task to keep track of constantly changing social media tools. Understanding the newest tool can be helpful to your own business, or can be useful to a client.
