For anyone that’s a visual learner, Trello is the way you should be managing your projects. Trello is a task or project management tool that keeps a visual overview of project steps, to-dos and who is working on what. These are some of the best features of Trello and what makes this tool so great.

Simple Design

Trello is designed to resemble the old school way of project management: Post-it notes on a whiteboard. Its simple and recognizable design is easy to view at a glance, which saves time and isn’t overwhelming.

Depending on what you’re using Trello for, your dashboard will adapt and reflect whatever you need it to. Trello was originally created for tracking large-scale, collaborative work projects, but can also be used for personal weekly to-do lists, or even things like planning a vacation.

Boards, Lists and Cards

If you’re using Trello to track a large project at work, the boards, lists and cards within Trello allow for an easy way to monitor the progress of the project. First, you can create boards for each project your team is working on. Within the boards, you can create lists, such as “to do,” “in progress” and “completed,” or even “Phase 1,” “Phase 2” and “Phase 3”. Underneath each list, you can create cards with the specific tasks to indicate who is assigned to work on each task.

You can assign deadlines for each task and the phase it’s in, as well as assign tasks to a specific person. Cards can include comments, checklists and attachments, and Trello also has a calendar view available. Trello dashboards can be customized with different themes and images, and the tool is easy to use across both mobile and desktop versions.

Visualize Moving Projects Along

When a task has been completed or is ready to move into the next phase, you can click and drag it right to the next column (list). This neat feature is an easy way to see and track progress for your team’s project. Team members can opt to receive alerts when tasks/cards have moved along on the board, when cards have been reassigned and when deadlines have been reached.

Trello is a great tool for project management, especially across teams. Its clean design and straightforward way of keeping track of tasks is great for those in need of a visual and simple way of following along with complex projects.
