This is a good update for those of us looking for more ways to reach specific media outlets and reporters. If you are a company trying to connect with consumers on a more personal level, this is also a plus! Whether you are hosting a giveaway, receiving feedback or just being friendly on Twitter, you can now suggest that your fans send a direct message.
4. Mobile is the Winner
When is the last time you read a news article from your phone or tablet? Do you have an app that updates you on the latest financial, national or local news? A large number of Americans are doing the same thing.
According to Pew Research Center, 39 of the top 50 digital news sites have more traffic coming in from mobile devices than desktops. Podcasts are also growing in popularity, with many listening from mobile applications. The takeaway- if you are creating online content, it’s now more important than ever to ensure that posts and videos are mobile friendly. To learn more about trends in news, see the full report here.
