Hello, Friday!
After having a half-week off for Thanksgiving, our team is back in full swing. This week has been far from quiet, with #GivingTuesday campaigns, new business proposals and networking events. In this week’s THRIVEable Friday, we’re looking at the successes of national social media campaigns and sharing our team’s new fitness challenge routine (bring on the holiday cookies!).
Campaign… Like a Boss
National campaigns and holidays are always fun and cause lots of chatter and excitement on social media. From #NationalWatermelonDay to #Thanksgiving and #GivingTuesday, there are dozens of days throughout the year that are a cause for a social media celebration, and community managers across the country have a chance to get their brand in on the fun.
This week, many non-profits celebrated #GivingTuesday, a day devoted to giving back to charities and organizations. #GivingTuesday continues to grow each year, and this year online donations grew by 52 percent compared to last year. Since the power of social media and national campaigns continues to grow, we put together some of the best tips to help you get your brand in on the action – not just for campaigns like #GivingTuesday, but for any “#NationalWhateverDay”!
Choose channels
Decide a few months ahead of the campaign day what channels you want to reach your audience on, whether it be social media, email, or in the news. Then start planning out the best ways to use these channels, develop messaging and decide on any budget allocated to the campaign.
Use visuals
Everyone knows now that posts with images get the most engagement! Make sure you take time to develop eye-catching and informational visuals for your posts. There are lots of tools available to help PR pros make some compelling images.
Research all related hashtags
Take time to research what other hashtags people are using other than the primary one for the national holiday/event. For example, #GiveBack, #SocialGood, #Unselfie and #Donate were popular hashtags used along with #GivingTuesday.
Tips & Tools to Empower Your Life
It’s pretty well known now that sitting for eight hours each day can have a lot of negative health effects. In order to really stay healthy while working, it’s important to stand and move as much as possible. This week our team started implementing daily exercises three times a day to make sure we are all up and moving throughout the day! We motivate and keep each other up to date in Slack, too.
If you can’t get down on the floor of your office to do an ab workout, here are some of the best exercises you can do at your desk throughout the day:
Sit the right way
Make sure when you are sitting at your desk that you’re sitting with the correct posture, chair height and with your computer screen at the right distance away.
Extend your legs
While sitting, extend each leg up for several seconds, hold, lower, switch legs and repeat up to 15 times. A quick and mindless way to keep the muscles in your legs engaged during the day.
Take the stairs
Do it. When you get to the office, when you leave for lunch hour, and when you go home. Taking the stairs as often as you can is amazing exercise you can easily squeeze into your day!
