Happy Friday! Things have been a little quiet lately – last week was super packed with the Ohio Growth Summit, plus our entire team was together for the first time EVER. Though we all stay connected on a day-to-day basis, it was exciting to be able to see each other in person, without the computer screen. We had a blast bonding, learning, and eating lots and lots of food (if you’re in the Columbus area and haven’t been to Marcella’s, go immediately and try the pesto shrimp pizza. You’re welcome).
Now that we’re all back to our respective home offices and Kate is at the beach for some R&R, I’m delivering this week’s #THRIVEable Friday, our weekly roundup of tips, tools and articles to help you in and out of the workplace. Dig in and enjoy!
Entrepreneurship…LIKE A BOSS.
Employee Engagement.
Are you feeling a disconnect between your company and your employees? Burnout, a lack of appreciation and dissatisfaction are all factors that affect your employees, and ultimately your business’s, performance. This post from Forbes offers advice for entrepreneurs and managers and provides links to tips from experts on how to better engage your employees.
Work Smarter, Not Harder.
Entrepreneurs are often workaholics – they work long hours and often have a hard time separating work time from play time. Being a hard worker is a great quality, but it can lead to a ridiculous amount of stress and burnout. This article gives great tips on how to work smarter and be more productive in less time. After all, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
Set Strong Goals.
When it comes to setting goals, the older we get the more we tend to play it safe. Failure is disappointing and can be embarassing, so it’s easier to set the bar a bit lower than our original idea. This interesting post from Inc.com encourages us to set loftier goals and think BIG – after all, you might surprise yourself.
Tips and Tools to Empower Your Life
Do you dream of going Office Space on your outdated printer/scanner combo? I know I do. Half the time it doesn’t scan correctly or my computer fails to recognize the image. Can’t there be an easier way to scan and send a document to an employee, contractor or client? Thankfully, there’s an app for that. MDScan turns your phone into a portable scanner that lets you scan any type of document, turn it into a PDF and send it. You can also upload documents to cloud storage straight from the app. It’s like carrying around a copy machine – just don’t sit on it.
