Goal Achievement: Focus On What Is In Front Of You #MotivationMonday

Having goals is important. You have to set clear, measurable and attainable goals, then refer to them often to ensure you stay on track. At the same time, when it comes to daily life, looking to your long-term goals can begin to feel overwhelming — especially when you find yourself in unfamiliar territory.

This is year three as CEO of a growing public relations firm and guess what? I haven’t been here before. We have a team of seven and I have never been responsible for this many people in this capacity. Two of my team members are currently on maternity leave, which is another new situation for me.

When I think about my five-year and ten-year goals now, I begin to feel overwhelmed and anxious. I wonder how in the world am I going to get from here to there? Can we sustain our growth? What will 2016 look like? Do I really have what it takes to … lead a team? Build a business? Be successful?

The answer is yes.

The answer is yes because I have the mindset and resources I need for successful today … and today leads to tomorrow, which leads to next week, next month, next year and the next five and ten years. I have what I need for today and that is enough.

No doubt there are challenging times ahead but I have faith that just as I have what I need for success today, I will have the tools, ideas, network, creativity and experience to take me and my team into future success beyond what I could even imagine.

If I always look forward, I may overlook today.

SO … today I am thankful for beauty and sunshine and the ability to wake up to a fresh start on my terms. I’m thankful for the opportunity to use my mind to think creatively, problem solve and build into those around me.

I have today and with it everything I need. And that is enough.
