FINDING YOUR FIT
Although we often hear how fun we can be to work with, most often we hear words like detailed, creative, nimble and team. As an agency, we practice radical care and radical candor. From impromptu “I need your help now!” calls to “Can we just hang out over drinks?” offers, we can thankfully say we enjoy each person we partner with.
We talk about the fit up front, even before our first meeting by sharing an orientation guide. We align on mutual expectations. We believe in being transparent with our clients about working styles, policies and procedures.
We evaluate fit based on three things:
- You have previous agency experience – working with an agency is unique and each agency is different so it’s important to have a past experience to compare to.
- You’re upfront about available budget and goals – we talk money early and often because as someone said once, it makes the world go round. To have the impact you deserve to receive, we need specific financial commitments before beginning a relationship. From time to time, we may make a budget exception based on the situation or scope.
- You have an internal point of contact who is going to be the marketing champion. To stay nimble and scrappy, we typically need a contact that isn’t just the CEO or chief marketing officer. Someone needs to be available day-to-day to ensure we get what we need to achieve results for your business. It’s essential to have internal alignment as to the true business need and the role we will play as your PR firm.
No one client is the right fit for every firm and no one firm is the right fit for every client. Our goal is to give you the resources to make your best judgement call on fit, and we’ll do the same. This leaves the relationship intact and at the very least, it keeps things from being awkward when you run into us at a networking event.
